The foreign citizens who have the Bachelor degree, which gives the right to get the higher education at the Master level in the native country, can be accepted on the MPEI Master course. The foreigner wishing to entry at MPEI Master course should gather the set of documents as follows:

  • The application in the specific MPEI form with accurate (better on computer) filling in all the points with notification of the direction and specialty with the code and name (see below) from the list of MPEI Master specialties. In this application you should mention the city in the native country where there is the Russian Consulate, which you will use for getting the entry visa to Russia. Moreover, you must mention the exact mail address, the contact phone and fax (if any), the e-mail address of the applicant. The application should be printed, signed in written form and then scanned.
  • The scanned copies (in Russian or in English) of the national education certificate and a transcript (the list of disciplines with the grades) concerning the previous education. Non-official copies (without signatures and stamps) are not allowed.
  • The copies of the first two pages of the national passport with clear photo. The passport should be valid during 1,5 years after the student arrival in Moscow.
  • The copy of the medical certificate concerning the health with the results of examination on infected diseases and AIDS.
  • Any additional documents confirming the applicant interest to education on the chosen specialty (any recommendations, the national competition results, some diplomas about the skill raise etc.).

The mentioned documents should be sent to MPEI by mail or (much better) via e-mail to study@mpei.ru. In the first letter you should mention the full name (like in passport, beginning with family name) for the registration in the computer database. All further letters should include this full name.

The documents are accepted via e-mail at any time. The coordinator will ask you questions, if necessary, and then pass the documents to the Admission Commission. If this Commission has the additional questions, the coordinator will send them to the applicant. The Admission Commission thoroughly investigates the documents from April 1st to July 30th of each year and makes the final decision about acceptation.

If the decision is negative, the coordinator informs the applicant with brief explanation the refusal reasons.

If the decision is positive, the coordinator informs the applicant about it, and MPEI prepares the set of documents for visa support to Russian Migration Agency. After receiving the official invitation from this Agency, MPEI form the text of the contract and the applicant should perform the first payment in sum of the tuition fee for the first semester. For this, MPEI send the official invoice for this payment through the Bank transfer. After receiving the first payment, MPEI sends the origin of the official invitation and the official letter from university to Russian Consulate on the applicant mail address.

After receiving the invitation, the applicant should apply personally to Russian Consulate for the entry visa. After getting the visa and booking the air ticket, the applicant should inform coordinator about the date, flight number and arrival time as well as the name of Moscow airport at least than 3 working days before the arrival. The pick-up service will meet you at Moscow airport and transfer to the university.

After arrival to MPEI, the applicant passes to the Dean office the following documents:

  • Origin of application with personal signature;
  • Single-entry visa to Russia on education to MPEI;
  • The migration card or registration form (notification about arrival) to Moscow or Moscow region;
  • The origin of the legalized documents on the previous education with the Appendix to it;
  • The confirmed translation into Russian of the documents on the previous education with the Appendix to it;
  • The certificate about the educational document equivalence;
  • Medical certificate;
  • 12 passport photos 3x4 cm on the dull paper.

The acceptation of these documents from the applicants can be performed from June 1st till September 15th.

If the applicant has not this set of documents, he/she must leave Russia during three days. When the applicant has no the confirmation of the equivalence of the educational documents, MPEI may permit him to visit classes under condition that during first semester the student will get the certificate of equivalence and present it to Dean Office.

In Russian Federation the education in universities is available in Russian medium only. Therefore, before the main education the foreign applicant to Master course should pass the Preliminary course for training Russian language followed by the State Test in Russian language (called Teaching Russian as a foreign language – TORFL). For those foreigners who already has TORFL-1 certificate it is not necessary to pass the Preliminary course. The only specialty available in English medium for the foreign students is "Informatics and Computer Engineering".

The acceptation at Master programs is fulfilled on the basis of the entry test results in the form of interview. The acceptation of foreign students entering on the contract basis to Master course is arranged till September 25th. The students entering on the contract basis are officially accepted after the signing the contract and the payment in accordance with the contract.
